Mission Rebuild Nepal / Sponsor a student

A student, a school year, and a receipt for every rupee.

Floods, landslides and earthquakes take homes first and schooling second. MRN field staff enrol the students who were about to drop out, cost their year item by item, and account for what is spent. You can sponsor one of them from anywhere in the world.

01 / How it works

Three steps, and no contact that staff have not seen

Sponsorship here is a financial commitment to a student's schooling, not a private relationship with a child. Every letter is read before it is delivered and every call is hosted by an MRN staff member.
  1. 01

    Choose a student

Each student was enrolled by MRN field staff in Nepal after a disaster interrupted their schooling. Their record lists what they need, itemised, with a target for each item.

  2. 02

    Give once or monthly

Give by card, PayPal or bank transfer. Your gift is credited to that student in the ledger on the day it arrives, and the processing fee is shown as its own line rather than hidden inside a smaller figure.

  3. 03

    Follow their year

Progress reports from their school, updates from field staff, and the receipt for every rupee spent on them. You can write to them through a moderated letter, or ask for a call hosted by staff.

03 / Where the money goes

The ledger is append-only

Every gift and every payment in Nepal is a line in one ledger. A line is never edited and never deleted: a mistake is corrected by posting its opposite, so the correction is on the record too. Spending needs a second person's approval before the money moves.

Child protection

Students are shown by first name, age, district and grade. Surnames, dates of birth, villages, school names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses are never shown to sponsors or to the public. Photographs are published only where a guardian has consented to one, and are stripped of their location data before they are stored.

Sponsor a student this school year

Create an account, choose a student, and give once or monthly. You can pause or end a sponsorship yourself at any time.
